I have finally completed my first crocheted piece of clothing. Since learning to crochet last august I've looked at loads of patterns, mostly children's clothes but between all the other projects I kept starting I hadn't got round to making anything. While recovering from a nasty sickness bug though I found myself with an unexpected day in the house and got started on a dress for my 3 year old. The pattern was from an issue of Crochet Today that I had randomly picked up in WH Smith one day. It was a really quick pattern and I got to at least the belt band that day. After going so far though I just wasn't quite happy with it so it sat for at least a month at this stage.
Finally last week I decided to get it finished save it lying around the house any longer. I ripped out about 20 rounds and took it back to the belt band increase and decided to just make it straight and miss the belt out. The collar was a little tricky but worth the 5 attempts to get it right
Daughter was so pleased with it, especially since red is her new favourite colour, she had to wear it the next day. Proud moment
A friend had given me a piece of a Herman the German friendship cake. I had never heard of this before but basically it's like a chain letter but in cake form. I had to look after him for 10 days before giving away 3 pieces to friends and then cooking the piece I kept.
Panic set in when I realised I had to keep him alive as I am really bad for killing house plants etc but I managed it and actually became slightly attached to old Herman. When cooked he was delicious. I've half in the freezer for later and just gradually been eating the other half
Oh and remember Care Bears?? Well this grumpy little guy is off to a very good friend in London today
Busy times ahead since buying a flat last week but I'm sure I'll manage to fit in some crochet. In fact I've a horse to finish for tomorrow
